Kat Von D – New serpentina palette (three looks)

Hi everyone!

Although it’s not too typical for a bank job, I love wearing colourful eye looks as often as possible, so I’m constantly on the lookout for new palettes!

Recently this great new Kat Von d palette came out! Here’s what it looks like:

I had to give it a try before buying it so I got my makeup done for a wedding using the blue shade, Nile.

The shadow is very creamy for a pressed powder which is good and bad. Good because it goes on easily and a little goes a long way. Bad because it is incredibly hard to blend if you overdo it. So the first time I tried a look completely with this palette, it ended up pretty heavy! I used Nile, for the crease, the added Ankh for dimension, then I used Medusa and Hieroglyph for the lid.

Today I tried something new, that I had been looking forward to for a while! I’ve been looking for a pigmented oxblood color that is a pure red (rather than pink or orangey). So the Bloodmilk shade made me very happy! I used just that, layered it slowly and went heavy in the crease rather than darkening with another color:

Verdict: great but not for beginners! I needed to play with different brushes before I figured out what worked. I had to use a denser blending brush than usual and use a fluffier brush in slow layers to apply it. But on a positive note, the colour stays true and lasts forever without smudging, creasing or fading.

I’m looking forward to trying the light purple shade!!!!!
